Most Las Vegas jobs on our board start with the same arithmetic: a household that cannot make Los Angeles rent work any longer, running the numbers on Nevada housing and no state income tax. Emilio Chacon, who takes most of our long-haul runs, plans the day around getting out of the basin early. Once the truck is over the Cajon Pass and settled on the 15, the run across the Mojave is the easy half.

What the 15 Looks Like Under a Loaded Truck

Stretch What matters here
The basin to the Cajon Pass Leaving before the freeway stacks up through the Inland Empire
Cajon Pass to Baker Long empty miles and summer heat working on the load and the crew
Baker into the Las Vegas Valley Traffic tightens past the state line; the unload window is already agreed with the building or the HOA

Las Vegas is not one kind of delivery. A mid-rise apartment near the Arts District or a rental out toward the northwest is ordinary work for a standard truck and a small crew. Summerlin and Henderson run bigger, with guard gates, long driveways and move-in windows written into the HOA rules, which Selena Aguirre clears with the property before we roll.

  • Your goods ride one truck from the Los Angeles curb to the Nevada address, with no terminal stop and no trailer swap at the state line
  • The flat rate comes off the walkthrough and holds even when the 15 crawls out of Barstow
  • Most households load one day and unload the next; a small apartment often finishes inside a single day
  • Gate codes, guard-house passes and elevator reservations settled with the receiving property first

Nothing sits on a shared dock

Your furniture is never staged in a warehouse waiting for space on somebody else’s trailer. The movers who wrap it in Los Angeles are the ones carrying it in on the Nevada end. Diego Franco can lay out a realistic load day and what August heat does to unload timing.

Our other long-haul lanes out of Los Angeles: north to San Francisco, up I-5 to Seattle, and over the Rockies to Denver.

What people ask before a haul this long

How long does a move from Los Angeles to Las Vegas take?

It is about 270 miles on I-15, a little over four hours behind the wheel. A studio or one-bedroom is usually loaded and delivered the same day. A full house is normally loaded in the afternoon and set down in Las Vegas the following morning.

Can you load out of a downtown Los Angeles high-rise?

Regularly. We reserve the freight elevator, send management the insurance certificate they ask for, and where the truck has to sit in the street we pull an LADOT no-parking permit for the block. All of that happens in the days before the move, not on the morning of it.

What happens to heat-sensitive things in summer?

Candles, electronics, vinyl and anything else that does not enjoy a hot box ride up front in the cab with the driver. On triple-digit days the load starts at first light and the unload is kept out of the afternoon.
