Los Angeles to Seattle Movers

Around 1,135 miles up I-5 through Oregon and roughly seventeen and a half hours behind the wheel, on one truck that never opens in between.

Seattle is the longest lane on our board and the only one where the weather changes on you mid-trip. The truck stays on I-5 the entire way: up the valley, over the Siskiyous past Mount Shasta, then the long middle through Oregon before Portland and the last push north. Emilio Chacon watches those Oregon grades in winter more closely than anything else on the route.

Wrapped for Rain Before It Leaves Los Angeles

Loading in California teaches bad habits about weather. A dresser that would ride to Nevada under a blanket goes north with shrink wrap over the blanket, mattresses bagged and upholstery sealed rather than draped. Cardboard gives up fast on a wet unload, so book boxes and paper load deep instead of by the door, and the crew carries floor runners for the walk in.

Nobody loads in Los Angeles and unloads in Seattle the same day, and we do not pretend otherwise. This one spends a few days on the road, the truck is locked and sealed at every overnight stop, and Diego Franco gives you a delivery window instead of an hour. Queen Anne and parts of Ballard add their own wrinkle: steep blocks with no room for a full-size truck, so a shuttle sometimes covers the last stretch.

  • One truck for the whole haul, sealed overnight, with no trailer swap in Portland and no layover on a shared warehouse floor
  • Rain-ready wrapping done in Los Angeles, not improvised at the door in Washington
  • A written flat rate that stands even when a slow crossing over the Siskiyous adds hours
  • Condo elevator bookings and building move-in windows confirmed with your Seattle property before pickup

Same faces at both ends of a long week

Distance is where most companies pass a load to a partner carrier. We keep it. Emilio Chacon drives it, his crew loads it, and the same people open the doors in Seattle. Selena Aguirre can talk through a realistic delivery window and what a rainy load-in changes about the day.

The rest of our long-distance board: Las Vegas over the Cajon Pass, San Francisco through the Central Valley, and Denver by way of I-70.

What people ask before a haul this long

How many days does a move from Los Angeles to Seattle take?

Figure about 1,135 miles and seventeen and a half hours of driving, which is not one day's work for a legal driver. We book the delivery as a window and tighten it by phone once the truck is past the Oregon line.

Will my things sit in a warehouse in Portland or Seattle?

No. Your load stays on the same truck under the same lock from the moment the door comes down in Los Angeles. There is no terminal in between and no second company waiting at the Washington line.

What about houseplants and anything else that travels badly this far?

Plants are the usual surprise. Agricultural rules make them a poor passenger across state lines and they rarely survive days in a sealed truck anyway. Isabela Duarte flags what is better sold, gifted or driven in your own car while she builds the estimate.
